Hilary has a preoccupation with the human body and its passing through time and space re-occur throughout her practice. The fragmentation of the image and mark create a sense of uncertainty and fragility. The image emerges transformed, as it is concealed and rediscovered through layering and building of the picture surface, and the elimination of marks in order to rediscover and reconcile earlier concerns.
