Harry Furniss started as an illustrator for the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News but also worked for The Illustrated London News and The Graphic where he depicted, amongst other things, social events.

He is famous for doing more than 2,500 drawings in Punch, a British weekly magazine of humour and satire.
