Biography / Statement

John is a passionate sailor and worked for many years as an engineer in the army before combining the skills he learnt in the navy with his love of boats and producing stunning sculptures and trophies for the yachting world. He works almost exclusively in polished stainless steel, a material he became familiar with in his earlier career. This choice of material combines the grace and elegance of boats under sail with the crisp, clean lines of steel that reflect their surroundings.

Johnís sculptures have been presented at many prestigious yachting events, most recently the IPC media awards which were presented by The Princess Royal. His impressive sculpture ĎAlbatross circling the Globeí was presented to Dame Ellen Macarthur by the Royal Ocean Racing Club in recognition of her round the world achievements.

This year he has also produced the Musto trophy for seamanship which is awarded at the end of each leg of the Volvo Ocean Race. Johnís work is much sought after and is now in collections all over the world including the United States and Saudi Arabia.
