Biography / Statement

Born in 1944, Robert lived, and was educated in, Boreham Wood, Hertfordshire. He joined the Royal Navy in Dec 1960 as an artificer apprentice and in 1964 was inflicted upon the fleet as a Shipwright. One year later in Singapore he met his wife and they were married on the shores of Loch Lomond on their return to Britain in 1966. In 1978 he was commissioned as a Shipwright Officer until his retirement in 1995, since when he has served as a civil servant organising special events in Portsmouth Dockyard. His Naval career has taken him to many parts of the world in a variety of warships culminating in three years on board the Royal Yacht Britannia in the late eighties.

Robert has recently resumed his lifelong love of watercolour painting, specialising in historic buildings and landscapes. He lives in Havant and enjoys easy access to the beauty of the South Downs.
